Does the world need to promote the use of renewable energy?
The world needs to promote the use of renewable energy for its three outstanding properties: sustainability, safeness, and eco-friendliness.
First and foremost, renewable resources are unlimited. Fossil fuels such as oil or gas are limited, so will be used up sooner or later. Additionally, they are difficult to produce artificially. On the other hand, renewables, including wind or solar power, are infinite; hence there are no concerns about depletion. The public should make use of such immense energy more.
Second, renewable energy is safe. For instance, in Chornobyl and Fukushima, nuclear power plants were damaged and radiation was released, making the areas inhabitable. To eliminate such a dangerous source, new energy is necessary to be developed. Indeed, renewables may cause untoward incidents, but the size of them is not too big to be irreversible.
Last but not least, renewables are eco-friendly. Combustion emits carbon dioxide, leading to global warming; however, renewable energy does not do so. For example, water can be separated into its hydrogen and oxygen components through electrolysis without CO2 and hydrogen can be used as energy, which is in line with the Paris Agreement’s philosophy.
Renewable energy is indispensable to protect people and the environment, so should be fostered as soon as possible.
