Can science and technology be relied on as the way to solve all the problems?
Science and technology can be relied on as the way to solve all the problems from three perspectives: purpose and results, feelings and super-nature.
First and foremost, science and technology cannot choose their purpose and results. For example, nuclear power is beneficial to produce energy, however, aside from generating electricity, it is also used to make nuclear bombs. In addition, nuclear power is too powerful to control, often causing undesirable massive damage. Science can define the process for the purpose, however, it can neither assess nor ensure whether the purpose and the consequences are in line.
Second, science and technology cannot analyze qualia, non-verbalizing individual feelings based on experience. For instance, when two persons are seeing the same red apple, even if both call it a red one, they may perceive it as an apple of different color in each brain. No scientific and technological technique is able to represent such consciousness yet.
Last but not least, science and technology can target only natural events. Say, we cannot prove whether or not God exists scientifically. We can only decide whether or not we believe in God. Science can neither affirm nor deny supernatural phenomena such as ghosts as well.
Science and technology are not universal panaceas, so they can solve just part of the problems in the world. Hence, we can never rely on them in solving all our problems.
